I "guardiani del marciapiede"

«Local small [ethnic] business play a key role in providing urban communities with safety, vitality, and foot traffic in addition to the goods and services they sell. They act as "the eyes" of a community. [...] Storekeepers and other small business are typically strong proponents of peace and order themselves; they hate broken windows and holdups; they hate customers made nervous about safety. They are great street watchers and sidewalk guardians if presented in sufficient numbers» (I. Light e S.Gold, Ethnic Economies, 2000).
