L'avanzata della destra religiosa in Europa

La "destra religiosa" è in crescita anche in Europa, e minaccia la laicità degli stati con un'intensa attività di lobby e grazie alla presenza assidua in settori cruciali come l'educazione, la sanità e i media. Il Guardian traccia una mappa del potere temporale (e morale) della Chiesa in Europa, tra vecchi privilegi e nuove ingerenze che contrastano con la carta europea dei diritti fondamentali.

Areas affected by this rise include women's rights, gay rights and sexual and reproductive health rights as well as healthcare (such as contraception, abortion, condoms and IVF). Da notare come, tra le tante motivazioni addotte a sostegno della tesi dell'emergere della destra religiosa in Europa, la Veld non abbia nemmeno bisogno di citare l'Italia. Il che implica due cose: 1) figuriamoci noi; 2) anche gli altri non se la passano così bene.
